When COVID-19 started in the Philippines many Filipino struggle a lot, some lost their jobs, businesses shot down, and the system of education has change which lead to a challenging situation for the students.
Online Class is a way of learning through the use of gadgets like computer, laptop, android phones etc. with the help of internet connection. Everyone adopted the way of education in todays situation, all grade levels from grade school to college have their respective online classes from different subjects, submitting requirements through the use of online platform for virtual class such us Google Classroom and Microsoft Teams.
Virtual meeting has last for 2 years and more which every students is used to it and these students experienced ups and downs while in the process of online learning. There are advantages and disadvantages of online learning and these are;
Online learning helps students spend time with their families at home because we are attending class at home, after class students have time to rest and enjoy their time doing their hobbies and other stuffs, having time to think of their ideas in doing their requirements. No need to travel or go to school which is less hassle, it also lessen the expenses in acquiring education in reason of we only need enough amount of money for load like 100 pesos for whole week of class unlike face to face classes we need to spend more than 1,000 pesos because we need to buy school materials and more than 100 pesos to go to school everyday and that’s the advantages of online learning.
If there is advantages, of course there is also disadvantages of online learning. One of the major disadvantage of online learning which everyone face is the poor internet connection in the Philippines, not everyone has the privilege to have WiFi some are just using mobile data and most of the time the internet connection is really bad which lead to static audio in virtual class basically, students cannot focus well in the class and that is the reason why the learnings is not enough, some student just attend for the sake of attendance while others attend just to have grades. Online learning also link the students to procrastination and cramming for some reason they are tempted to social media, instead of studying they waste their time in Facebook, TikTok, Instagram and other social media platform.
Education might be change the way we use to but our willingness to learn never depend to this new system of education, being goal driven never give up despite of changes and challenges that happen through the journey of our lives.
